About AAMI

In 1970, three automobile clubs, the RACV, the RACQ and the RACT decided to handle their own insurance, previously managed by The Club Motor insurance agency.

AAMI (Australian Associated Motor Insurers) was launched to great success, with innovative programs featuring value and service that have seen it become a highly successful insurer for Australia's cars and homes. AAMI also looks after compulsory third party insurance in Queensland and NSW (Greenslips).

AAMI has grown to:
Over 1.7 million policy holders
Over 1,500 staff
Policy sales in 1999 of $610 million
Customer Service Centres and branches in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

Customer Focussed

We are committed to providing outstanding customer service. We've built on this over the years so that today the level of customer service sets us apart from the rest. Our service promises are enshrined in the AAMI Customer Charter and we are penalised if we fail to meet them.

We are the only insurer to make these commitments. Now in its third year, it is regarded within Australia and internationally as a premier example of how effective a Customer Charter can be.
