Placing Ads
Why can't I place online ads for
free?
We have recently introduced a new policy of charging a handling
fee for online ad placement. The past two years have been a learning
process for us here at All Auto Online. We thought we could do everything
on our website we could do in the paper. We were wrong.
All private ads placed online do not 'automatically' go into our
paper and online but must be checked, edited, processed and classified
before appearing. Due to the overwhelming response of receiving
up to 5000 online free ads per week, we have found it is too labour-intensive
and expensive to continue as a free service. We were also plagued
with an increase in bogus ads, many of which were traced back to
teenagers using school equipment and victimizing teachers or principals,
before we introduced the service charge.
The online service charge is $1.99 for 5 ads or $5.99 for 15.
We will keep track of your unused ads and let you know when you
sign on - they don't all have to be submitted in the same issue.
Our philosophy remains the same. Free access to the ads is available
online every Saturday afternoon and free ads can still be placed
in the traditional ways:
Our Free Ad Line (280-1000) and our Automobile line (523-AUTO
[2886] ) now have extended hours 7:30 am - 7 pm Monday to Friday
and 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday for your convenience.
There are several Full Ad Centres and 7-11s where free ads can be
dropped off. These ads must be on the forms from the All Auto
newspaper. The locations are listed on our website and also in the
newspaper. The forms in the paper can also be mailed or dropped
off at our office.
How long does an ad run?
All ads submitted run for one week only, both online and in the
All Auto newspaper, unless renewed by the customer.
Can I send a Photo Ad over the internet?
Photo Ads are Paid Ads and this service is now available to our
registered users.
Just click on Place Ads and then on Click Here To Place Photo
Ads Online.
How can I change (or cancel) an
ad I've already submitted online?
Should you need to change (or cancel) an ad you can send us email
at feedback@allauto.com (please include the phone number the ad
was placed under) or contact our Customer Service representative
at 1-800-663-1199 or (604) 540-4455 before Tuesday noon.
If it's too late to change (or cancel), don't worry, your ad will
only run for one week.
How can I renew an ad?
Click on Place Ads and then on View/Renew Previous Ads. You'll find
all the instructions you need right there!
You can also call our Renewal Line 24 hours a day at 540-4282
- the only changes to ads allowed on this line are price reductions.
Are there other ways to place an ad
besides using the internet?
Yes, you can visit one of our Full Ad Centres or offices and fill
out a Free Ad Form.
You can call our Free Ad line at 280-1000 Monday To Friday 7:30
am - 7 pm and from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Or you can just fill out the Free Ad Forms in the All Auto newspaper
and mail them in.
I keep forgetting to renew my ad
- can you help?
If you click on Settings you'll see Ad Alert. If you choose "yes"
you will receive an automatic email to remind you to renew an ad
you placed. All ads run for one week only, both in the All Auto
newspaper and on the website, unless renewed by the customer.
Don't forget to go back and click "no" when you've sold your item!
We also have a Renewal Line (540-4282) which can be accessed 24
hours a day. Please note the only changes allowed to ads on this
line are price reductions.
What is the deadline for private ads?
The deadline for the Thursday All Auto is every Sunday at 5 pm (web
ads midnight Sunday) except when a Statutory Holiday falls on a
Monday.
Can I send you an ad by e-mail or
fax?
Sorry, but our system is not set up to accept private ads by e-mail
or fax.
Ad placements must be purchased before an ad can be submitted
via the internet.
Free ads can still be placed in the traditional ways:
Our Free Ad Line (280-1000) has extended hours 7:30 am - 7 pm
Monday to Friday for your convenience and from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday. There are several Full Ad Centres and 7-11s
where free ads can be dropped off. These ads must be on the forms
from the All Auto newspaper.
The locations are listed on our website and also in the newspaper.
The forms in the paper can also be mailed or dropped off at our
office.
The Clipboard
Can I save the ads I'm interested in to
The Clipboard?
Yes, as long as you are a registered user and have logged in you
can save ads as well as your favourite searches.
When you're browsing just check the ads which interest you and
then click Save Selected Ads to Clipboard.
It's a good idea to print them out as the All Auto Online ads
are updated weekly.
How can I access The Clipboard?
First you must become a registered user of the All Auto website
and log on to utilise The Clipboard.
Registration is free - just click on the top lefthand corner of
our Home Page and you'll find the relevant form.
You choose your own username and password but sometimes they have
already been taken - watch for screen messages. If your first name
is already taken perhaps your dog's name would work!
Using Search
Alert
What is Search Alert?
Our free Search Alert feature sends you an email whenever new ads
match your favourite searches.
To turn on Search Alert click on Clipboard and check the box beside
the search you wish to activate for Search Alert. Remember to uncheck
the box when you have found your match!
When the item you are looking for is advertised in the Buy and
Sell, you will receive email from us alerting you in advance of
the publication date. You then will have options as to how to access
this information.
You might wish to buy the Thursday Buy and Sell Newspaper or sign
up for Early Access.
Another option would be to wait till Saturday and hope the item
has not already sold.
How can I access Search Alert?
First you must become a registered user of the All Auto website
and log on to utilise Search Alert.
To turn on Search Alert click on Clipboard and check the box beside
